The Sawmill

We buy the felled logs, usually straight from the forest floor, and their first port of call is the sawmill.

Often, the logs wait around until the schedule allows time for them to be cut, but in the case of more delicate timbers, such as Sycamore, we get them cut straight away, so as to keep the best colour as possible.

In addition to the logs being milled, there is always cladding and beaming jobs keeping the mill busy. We provide Oak, Larch, Douglas Fir and other timbers for jobs requiring fresh sawn timber. For more information have a look at our cladding or beams page.

We also cut logs for our customers.

This is often for our furniture making customers who like to have full control over the drying process, but we have milled timber for many customers who simply want to have furniture made out of the tree that was in their garden, or held sentimental value to them.

In these cases, we usually stick and dry the timber on their behalf, and in some cases make them bespoke furniture out of it too.

If you have some timber you would like us to mill for you, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Whilst we always strive to meet your requirements, we can't promise to always be able to mill your timber, as our machines will only take timber of a certain size and above. A rough guide as to the minimum size requirements would be: 1.8m and longer x 400mm and wider.

If you are unsure whether we can mill your log, please get in touch and we will be happy to advise.
